Vamp Up Your Valentine's

With February already among us, the only exciting thing about this month has got to be Valentine's Day. I mean, why else would we be excited about a month with less days? Other than pay day comes sooner than the average month, I'm pretty sure February usually sucks for most people, aside from Valentine's Day (for some...the day's not usually all it's cracked up to be for everyone). Now whether you would like to openly admit it or not, most (and yes, I did say MOST for you girls who are "He-Man-Woman-Haters") of us ladies still look forward to celebrating with a Valentine whether we have a significant other or not. Of course movies have influenced us to imagine a romantic date night of some sort, where we get all dressed up and well...as the night progresses I'm sure you can figure out what most women expect from their Valentine's Day.
Whether you have a V-Day date or not, I'm here to share some tips on how to vamp up your V-day by making sure you look and feel amazing no matter the occasion.

Number One- Pamper yourself. Whether you have plans or not, giving yourself an at-home spa treatment can really change the way you look and feel on Valentine's Day. I suggest if you have plans to go out with a friend or your lover on the 14th, do this pampering sesh the night or day before your date. This will ensure that your skin has time to relax before you apply a full face of makeup. And a little bonus tip for all you girlies that are habitually late to everything like me, this ensures all you have to do the day of is get yourself glammed up. Pre-pampering the day before allows you to actually relax and to not be in any sort of time crunch. Give yourself a mini facial, and if you don't have the time or just want to save a little bit of money prepping for your V-day plans, an at home mani/pedi will be the perfect way to still ensure your digits look up to par for the evening events, but that you don't break the bank doing it. Besides, artificial nails are long gone and out of style. All natural baby! That's the way to go. And trust me, your man will surely agree. Yes, he may find long nails sexy and seductive in the bedroom, but that's probably about the only place. Of course you want your man to think you take care of yourself by having your nails and hair done regularly, eyebrows, lip and bikini waxes are a no brainer; but you also don't want to make him think that you spend a tremendous amount of money on these things. Now as women, we know the truth. But what he doesn't know won't hurt him. :) Enhance your natural features. You want to look like YOU! Crazy right?

Number Two- This tip kind of goes in hand with number one. Whiten your teeth AHEAD of time to give you a more confident smile. This tip is great if you spend from now until the 14th preparing for V-day because then you will see whiter results the longer you have been whitening them. I think this tip is so important because who doesn't plan to be locking lips on Valentine's night?  Also, it just makes rocking a red lip on Valentine's that much sexier when your teeth are supppaaa white! :)

Now for Number Three- Send yourself flowers. No matter who you expect to surprise you on V-day, there's nothing better than a little gift from you to yourself to show your appreciation and love for all that YOU do! And if you've waited too late to send yourself a bouquet, then pick up a fresh one at your local Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. They have beautiful spring bouquets and roses right now for as little as $3.99!!

Number Four- Buy yourself a new outfit for V-day that will coordinate with whatever your plans are for the day or night. Staying in with girlfriends? Buy a new set of cute PJ's for your Girl's Night In! Going on a romantic date to a nice, intimate restaurant you've been dying to try? Go for a sexy, but sophisticated dress. You can't go wrong with black, red, or even a baby, blush pink. Keep it classy, Ladies. Going out with the girls? You can go for this same cute cocktail dress look! Let's not forget the lingerie and heels. You definitely can't go wrong with purchasing either. I recommend all three to really pull your look together!

Number Five- GO SIMPLE, yet sultry with your makeup. Stick with the "natural beauty" look as opposed to going all out for an evening smokey and bold lip. I can't stress enough that you DON'T, and I mean absolutely don't by any means, need to cake on the makeup! KEEP IT SIMPLE! BB creams, tinted moisturizers, or just a light weight foundation with build-able coverage are perfect options. You want to still be able to see your skin peeking through. If you need full coverage, use a concealer to build up coverage, but ONLY in areas where you need it. Using soft shimmery pinks and vanilla's paired with a matte taupe or soft brown to smoke out the crease are perfect shadows for a Valentine's Day makeup look. With the lips there is a little more room to play. If you really are itching to wear a red lip on your date, be sure to use a lip stain or matte lip stick that won't wear off quickly. And if you're looking to go a little bit softer or more natural, I suggest going for a soft pink or natural lip liner close to your natural lip color paired with a true nude or pinky nude lip and topped off with a soft pink gloss. Don't over do the lips though. Or else that could really be a V-day disaster and put a bit of a roadblock between you and your date and that Valentine's Day kiss.

Job Interview Nails!

Hi friends!
Tonight I'm prepping for a job interview I have tomorrow and of course I had to make sure my nails are up to par. I couldn't decide between a chic nude polish or a classic french manicure. I used to give myself a french manicure all the time when I worked at my old salon, but I've been out of practice so I wasn't quite sure how it would turn out. Luckily, I seemed to jump right back into my groove and didn't even have to remove polish from a single nail! I love french manicures because they give a sophisticated, polished and put together finish on anyone's look. I think a french mani is perfect for a job interview because it will give the impression that you take care of your nails and it is just the right color combo for a professional environment. Not to mention it will match with anything you wear! It's best not to go with super obnoxious or trendy colors because you don't want to be taking away the focus from your skills and abilities to best suit the job you are interviewing for and put it on your fingernails. I'm interviewing for a job in the cosmetics industry. Since this is my profession, I've had quite a few jobs like this and have gone through similar interviewing processes, so I kind of already know what to expect. My job usually involves using my hands a lot, so I like for them to look chic at all times. So if you are interviewing for a job in the near future, I hope you remember this little tip!

Below I'm sharing some of my Instagram pictures from my mani-sesh tonight!
I always do my nails on the bathroom floor. I'm not sure why, but I feel like I do a way better job on my nails down there. Haha! Where's your favorite place to do your nails??

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polish

Today's polish is Sally Hansen's Magnetic Polish in Ionic Indigo!
I received this full size polish in my Summer Beauty VoxBox from Ifluenster.com
It's surprisingly super easy to do and I love the fact that each nail isn't exactly the same as the other. For me, this is a more edgy look and not something I would wear on a regular basis, I'm actually loving it so far!
What do you guys think? Would you wear this polish? Have any of you tried these polishes before? If so, what other colors do you recommend?

Happy Sunday!

Jessica

Going Green..Neon Green That Is!

Welcome back beauties! It's Friday! That means it's time to trade in the office attire for summer dresses, sunnies, and your favorite pair of sandals or wedges. Time to let your hair down and kick off this wonderful weekend with a margarita in hand. Of course you can't have those nails looking busted while you're sipping from that delicious drink, so a freshly painted manicure is a must have to top off your look.  This weekend I'll be sporting this neon, lime green polish from Sinful Colors at the family BBQ celebrating Father's Day weekend. I don't really incorporate a lot of neon colors into my wardrobe, so wearing them as a pop of color on my nails is my favorite way to pull them off. I'm not one to wear green on my nails either, but I'm actually really loving this bright green shade for summer. This is in the color 'Innocent' #944. One coat wasn't quite opaque enough for me, so two coats did the trick. I think this would also look super cute with a little white flower or dandelion painted on the ring finger or thumb as an accent nail if you want to take it up a notch. Spring and summer are all about brightening up your wardrobe and having fun with all different colors, styles, and trends.

I hope you're having a fantastic Friday and a great start to your weekend.

Pretty in Pink

Good afternoon, lovelies!
Please forgive me for being MIA and posting a late Polish of the Week.
Things have been busy!
Never the less, here you go!
Today I'm wearing OPI's Japanese Rose Garden.
It is a light rosy, pink with soft purple undertones.
This polish just screams SPRING and I personally love it paired with my olive complexion, but this color would look great on all skin tones.
I picked this polish up at an Aveda Institute in Tallahassee, Florida.
They have an amazing policy for pedicures and manicure services. With the purchase of your service you receive a FREE OPI nail polish!
If you are in Florida, check out your local Aveda Institute for your next mani or pedi!

Hope you're having a great week and a fantastic Thursday!
I'll be seeing you soon!

Polish of the Week!

Happy Sunday!
Sorry I'm a little late with this week's polish pick, but better late than never, right?! Today I'm wearing Wet n Wild's bright red polish in 'Everybody Loves Redmond' and my ring finger is coated by e.l.f. Cosmetics 'Golden Goddess' which you'll recognize from a previous blog post. I love this red nail polish because it's bright, and is more of an orangey-red making it the perfect red for spring and summer. Red is a color that can be worn year round, but the shade of red is the key. For the warmer months, keep your reds bright for the perfect pop of color. I think topping off the red with a gold glitter nail polish is the perfect compliment for a little extra sparkle.

New e.l.f. Cosmetics Nail Polish Haul

Hi my beautiful followers!
So, I recently purchased a pretty big order on eyeslipsface.com (which I haven't done in a LONG time) and with that I picked up three new polishes. I've always been a fan of the e.l.f. Cosmetics nail polishes, so seeing that they recently reformulated them and had a ton of new colors I decided to pick out three colors that I didn't already have in my nail polish collection.
The first color to catch my eye was the glitter polish in Golden Goddess. One trend I haven't quite tried or been a huge fan of until recently has been glitter nail polish, so this shall be my first!
I can't wait to show you what polish I pair it with in a future POTW!
The second polish I just HAD to have was not new, but new to me; the perfect nude polish in the color Innocent. I've seen reviews on this polish and it's really similar to the Essie polish in the color Sand Tropez that I've been eye-ing for quite some time, so this was a must try. Which I'm currently wearing and LOVING! Pictures coming soon! Can you guess what this week's Polish Pick is going to be? ;) (wink wink)
Lastly, I was really excited to try this bubblegum pink color in Gum Pink. Now don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous color, but it dries a lot darker than I was hoping, especially after two coats. So unfortunately, this was a miss rather than a hit for me. I already have two colors very similar, including the Essie polish in Mod Square which you can find swatches of in my first spring Polish Pick of the Week post.
As far as reformulation goes with these polishes, to be honest I don't really see a whole lot of difference, but what do you think?
What are some of your guys' opinions on these polishes?
Have you seen a new and improved formula when you've tried out these e.l.f. polishes?
Which color is your favorite out of these three?
Share! I love reading your comments!
Have a wonderful and positive, fun-filled day friends!
Check out the swatches below!
Also, let me know if you'd be interested in a haul showing you what else I picked up from eyeslipsface.com!
Xoxo!

Bonus Polish of the Week, Because You Deserve It!

My favorite mint nail polish hands down is this E.L.F. Cosmetics nail polish in Mint Cream. Not only is it the perfect mint color, the price point is amazing! $2.00!! I just ordered some new polishes from them this week. Can't wait to share them with you! Try this polish out and if you do let me know how you like it!

POTW: Have You Met Your Soulmate?

It's that time again! Polish Pick #3 is Sinful Colors in Soulmate.
This polish is a peachy pink and is extremely opaque. It dries matte, so if you prefer matte polishes then you can't beat this polish for the price. And if you need a glossy finish, apply a shiny top coat for perfection! I picked this polish up at my local Walgreens for $1.99. I applied two coats of polish and then topped it off with my Nail-Aid 3 Minute Artificials Top Coat, which you can read my review on below. :)
Hope you're having a fabulous day!

Review: Nail-Aid 3 Minute Artificials

This top coat claims to to give you natural nails equivalent to the strength of acrylic nails in 3 minutes. If you're looking to this product to do the job it actually claims, then you're going to be disappointed with the outcome. I purchased this top coat because I was obsessed with the outcome of getting gel nail polish done at the nail salon, but I was definitely not obsessed with the price. So in hopes of finding something to take the place with a much better price point that I could do myself at home, I picked this product up for about 5 dollars. I followed the directions carefully the first time, applying no polish in order to see how strong it would actually make my nails, I was disappointed to find that it didn't really show much of a difference. Naturally my nails are pretty strong, so this could be why I didn't see a result. The second time using a polish though, I found this top coat to really provide the staying power I needed for my polish. Using this as my base and top coat, my polish lasts at least 4 or 5 days without an ounce of chipping! I'm so used to my nails lasting about 2 days before they start chipping that 5 days seemed impossible. I'm loving this as my new top coat right now. Have any of you tried this product out? I'd love to hear what you have to share!

xoxo

Polish Pick of the Week!

Hey guys! Here's my polish pick for this week. The past couple days been kind of chilly so cold weather clothes have been pulled back out and with that I decided to match my polish by choosing OPI's French Quarter For Your Thoughts. I think a grey polish can be versatile for any season. Darken your look by pairing it with navy blues and blacks or brighten it up by pairing it with pinks, yellows or even a mint green! Hope you like!! Xoxo

Spring Polish Pick #1

It's official! I've kicked the dark polishes to the curb (well not really...more like to the back of the polish rack) and dusted off my bright spring and summer nail polishes! Each week I'll share my polish pick! Here's spring polish pick #1: Essie Mod Square. The perfect bright pink to kick off spring!
